ABOUT THE PLAY
God of Carnage was inspired by a real-life incident involving the playwright’s son. Reza recounts how, after his son’s friend broke a tooth during a fight, he met the boy's mother. She told him that the parents of the other boy hadn’t even reached out. This experience led to Le Dieu du Carnage, which premiered in Zürich in 2006, and was later translated and performed in London in 2008. The London production won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. On Broadway in 2009, it won the Tony Award for Best Play and ran for 452 performances. In 2011, the play was adapted into the film Carnage, directed by Roman Polanski and starring Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, John C. Reilly, and Jodie Foster.
